Keeping my calories in check, what to eat to bring up my calorie deficit??
I’m finding it really hard this weekend to keep my calories in check. Not only did I not eat enough each day but yesterday I had a deficit of -1800 calories. I got so busy outside, mowing grass for 6 hours, that I hardly ate anyting, and when I did it was like pizza, just one slice, and a salad, so I stayed within my normal range, of portions, but I burned so many more calories, that I’m really afraid I have messed up my bodies routine. Today I did not exercise, instead we took a 125 mile motorcycle trip across two counties! It was fabulous day for such a ride too. Our first chance to get out on the new cycle and feel the wind. We are so hooked! Again, because we were on the road so much I missed my routine snacks, that I normally take every two hours throughout the day, so my calories where low. Question??? When I burn as many calories as I did yesterday, what is a good food to eat to help bring them up faster, and still be good for me? I can only eat so many vegetables, before I burst. Maybe something less filling, but just as good… any suggestions?
I got a chance this evening to “play” around with the new home gym, figure out my max’s and what settings and all to put things on. I set up a chart on the computer to document mine (and hubby’s) progress, hopefully I will get time to start tomorrow evening. We have one more nice day tomorrow before the cooler weather and rain return. It’s so much easier to stick with a set schedule when it’s gloomy outside, but I sure LOVE the sunshine, and I can’t wait for it to come and stay. So many more acivities to fill my days, when I can get outside.
It’s late and I need to get to bed, gotta get up at 6 and start all over again tomorrow. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Have a FANTABULOUS Monday! And give me some high energy, low fat food ideas, please! ![]()

Healthy fats are my favorite way to get some extra, healthy calories in. Add some avocado to a sandwich or salad, peanut butter on fruits or veggies, salmon, a handful of nuts (which can also be added to salad, olive oil, etc.
If you like it a good piece of dark chocolate is a great treat that feels indulgent and has good stuff in it too.
Hey girlie, pack a bag of brazil nuts or almonds with you and snack on them. Healthy fats, protein, carbohydrates all rolled into one. Fruit is another great one. An apple is 80 cal and a bannana is 90 cal… easy way’s to give you energy and build up your calorie count.
You’re right, by having suc a calorie deficit, it will play havock with your metabolism and your mood. You may have to graze during the day to build up your calories, but it’s not that hard once you snack sensibly.
It depends on the type of diet your methabolism strives in. Lean chicken, white fish, whole grain cereals/breads if you lean towards GI’s, and ‘good’ fats, like nuts, avocado, sardines and peanut butter if you lean towards the Atkins.

Cheese is a good one too !
